Jane Palliser, the founder of Homes with Heart, learnt the importance of quality time away when she watched her friend's daughter struggle with cancer. Some charities have their own holiday lodges but stuggle financially to keep them yet Jane had a beautiful holiday home which stood empty a lot of the time. She tried without success to lend it to various charities so that children like Abbie could benefit but with no systems in place to manage such an offer, charities had to turn her down. Hence Homes with Heart was born.
Not only do we manage our unique Directory, but we work hard on our relationships with hospices and healthcare professionals so they are confident in referring their families. We liaise with holiday companies and housekeepers, nursing staff and families, so that parents can just pack and go.
"We recently bought a holiday home in Cornwall for investment. I was introduced to Homes with Heart by our letting agent. I liked the idea of giving a holiday to a family who really needed a break. Having had serious illnesses in our own family, I realised that the last thing you save your pennies for is a holiday and this I could do at no real cost to ourselves.
My husband was quite wary of the whole idea. Would they look after our much-loved holiday home? I persuaded him to give it a go and we need not have worried. Nicola and her family left our cottage in perfect order and paid for our cleaner on top. They obviously had a very much needed holiday and that just leaves me with a warm feeling.
To anyone thinking of lending their holiday home to Homes with Heart, I can only say “Go ahead and give someone a break…"
