Jack and his family stayed in Cornwall
We had an absolutely fabulous four days in Cornwall, with much needed peace and quiet which allowed us think!!!! We discovered, just days before, that Jack had relapsed and the cancer was wide-spread throughout his body. This completely devastated us and we came to the conclusion it was time to give up, his body was exhausted and could withstand no more toxic treatment.
Those days spent at Menehay have given us some very precious memories and more importantly, gave us back the will to continue the fight. Jack and his siblings loved the cottage, their excitement is not something we've seen for a long, long time. Jack showed renewed strength and the time has made us re-think our decision. As a result, Jack and I will fly back to the US this coming weekend to undergo further treatment.

What a very special gift you have given us all
Sadly, Jack passed away four months later surrounded by his family and playing cards until the end. In the words of his parents ... "Before his sedation we, Mum and Dad, Connor, Rhian, Giselle and Jen gathered for UNO. We sat at his bed for one more lesson from the master." I think of Jack often and his memory, and that of Abbie Shaw, is what keeps Homes with Heart going.
