Ineke Harris, a homeowner’s story: Cheltenham couple Ineke and Guy Harris didn’t hesitate when they heard about Homes with Heart. The owners of a charming waterside cottage in the Lower Mill Estate in Gloucestershire, they donated a week in October and are already planning to repeat the experience.

Said Ineke: “We feel very fortunate to have the cottage but, with three young children under six, we don’t get there as often as we’d like to. I’d made some enquiries about letting it to families with disabled or seriously ill children, but until Homes with Heart came along, there was no easy way to find them or manage the administration.

“Jane took down the details of the house and organised a let to the Poulson family, who have a severely disabled son. It was very easy – they brought their own bedding and towels and left it so clean we refunded their cleaning contribution.

“More importantly, they loved the cottage and had a wonderful time. We feel privileged to have been able to help and I would definitely do it again.”
